Look at the sheer number of sandbags here. Imagine being the guy who needed to fill those?
My back hurts just looking at this.
Any historians out there want to explain why it was so heavily fortified?
I’m not a historian but it’s a work of art. The film ‘Monuments Men’ was based on true events of rescuing art & artifacts from being destroyed during the war. I find it amazing what some people consider more valuable than human life but that’s for a different forum.
That was a great movie. Shed a completely different light on the war. We only hear about the human side of thing, not necessarily the “stuff” side of things.
