What u guys think about this new for the next battlefield?
Long story short, it looks like EA has delayed the next Need for Speed game, and put the man power of Criterion games behind DICE in order to ensure that Battlefield next ocomes out on time.
[Battlefield] is shaping up great, the team has been working incredibly hard, they pushed hard last year, and yes, we have been working from home,” Miele told Polygon. “And it’s hard; it’s hard to make games from home, and the [EA DICE] team is fatigued a bit.
As an aside, it was called ‘Battlefield’ and not Battlefield 6 as we said here
“We have a great game and some incredible potential with this game,” Miele added. “We’re playing to win; we’re playing to put a great Battlefield game out in the market.”
She also says that the next Battlefield game will be a “love letter to our fans”
I don’t think this is good news for us. If they have to bring in a whole other gaming studio to help them get Battlefield out the door and on time, they are probably having issues.
I know the Need For Speed franchise is popular, so to shelve it to get Battlefield complete, means there are issues.
Or am I reading into this way too much
I’m quite worried about this and have a huge feeling that the game isn’t going to ready. If they have to bring in a large studio like criterion and put need for speed, another huge franchise on hold, then I feel it means they might be having some issues with battlefield and don’t want another battlefield 4 launch again. Ea needs this battlefield to be amazing or fans are going to be annoyed considering how lacklustre battlefield 5 was.
First off @Alexperrin123 welcome to the forum, and congrats on your first post.
I agree with what you are saying. To table a major franchise such as the Need for Speed series is an expensive decision. I guess the Battlefield series brings in more money, so perhaps it is an accounting excercise to ensure that they get it out on time for the first “full” year of next generation gaming on next gen consoles.
Just a thought.
I get where you’re coming from, I guess if they bring in criterion and the launch is a huge success, then of course that’ll help relieve everyone from thinking this next game could a possible flop and bring in more potential players to the franchise.
Yeah. DICE by themselves have had some less than stellar launches, thats for sure. Going to be interesting to see how things progress over the next few months.
I am sure the Criterion team have different development styles, so how they ‘mesh’ with DICE could be fun to watch
If the launch is a success, then it will be a first, for the last few Battlefield games. Then we need to define success.

The last one is really interesting, as if a game sells a bazillion units, and drops off after a month, then they can say bye to any further revenue on DLC content.
